Visa extension (current students)

Eligibility
  • Foreign students enrolled in a regular program at a university (D-2) wishing to extend their previously granted residence period
Application period
  • Apply from 4 months before the expiration of the current residence period until the expiration date.
Required documents
  • Integrated application form
  • Alien registration card
  • Passport
  • Fee: ₩60,000
  • Certificate of enrollment
  • Transcript
  • Proof of residence documents (such as lease agreements, accommodation confirmation, etc.)
  • Financial proof documents (to be submitted only by those with a grade below C (GPA 2.0): $10,000 bank balance certificate)

    * For applications to extend beyond the standard number of semesters, a confirmation letter from the advisor and financial proof are required.

Instructions
  • Individual application: Prepare the above documents and visit the relevant immigration office to apply (pre-reservation on hikorea is required).
  • Group application: At the beginning of each semester, the school will announce group application submissions → Prepare the above documents and visit the International Student Support Team to apply.
Note
  • If a student takes a leave of absence for personal reasons, not due to unavoidable circumstances like accidents or illness, there will be restrictions on extending the residence period.
  • Those whose study has ended will find it difficult to extend their residence. However, if there are reasons such as preparing for a thesis after graduation, an application may be possible.
  • If you apply for an extension of your residence period after the expiration date, a fine will be imposed (pursuant to Article 25 of the Immigration Control Act).
