Overview
Department of Music
The Department of Music was established in 1983 with the aim of cultivating creative talents through systematic music education and active participation in performance activities.
Currently, the department has a faculty of seven professors, and the department has produced over 900 graduates, many of whom are active as professional musicians or music educators. Graduates are also pursuing advanced academic paths, such as entering graduate school or studying abroad for deeper and more specialized knowledge in music.
Students learn essential elements that help them choose and determine their career paths after graduation through various official department performances, such as annual concerts and subscription operas. In addition, they pursue the goal of cultivating professional musicians by participating in discussions about performance planning and promotional strategies for departmental and university-organized performances, including orchestra concerts and operas.
The department includes research groups composed solely of current students, such as the Piano Society, Vocal Research Society, Brass Ensemble, and String Ensemble. These groups provide beneficial and efficient learning and performance experiences that deepen the musical knowledge gained in department classes through regular practice sessions and concerts.
Department of Design
The Department of Design aims to create educational opportunities that enrich and facilitate human life, generating aesthetic, cultural, and practical values through formal, psychological, and scientific exploration.
To achieve this, the department divides design as a practical discipline into two main areas: industrial design and visual design, providing efficient specialized education in each field.
The industrial design major provides education that focuses on research applying a rational process to aesthetic and creative thinking that meets the objectives of economical and convenient product and environmental design, targeting all tools, products, and living environments used by humans.
The visual design major provides a specialized curriculum that visualizes various information related to creating a harmonious life between humans and the environment through formative and scientific methods. It aims to cultivate professional designers in the fields of general graphic design, illustration, and multimedia design, focusing on diverse visual cultures.
Department of Sculpture
The Department of Sculpture has its core goal of cultivating professionals who can act as future-oriented leaders in the field of visual arts, based on a creative spirit of challenge.
To achieve this, the department's curriculum is learner-centered, aiming to create a new type of culture through expertise and creativity in the field of fine arts, as well as communication with the general society.
Many graduates are playing a leading role in the development of Korean sculpture culture and are actively involved in various fields such as educators related to sculpture, sculptors, curators, producers in the arts field of broadcasting, stage set designers, and interior designers.
Department of Sport Science
The Department of Sport Science was established in 2002 with the aim of cultivating creative abilities that can actively respond to the sports environment of the knowledge information age, implementing advanced welfare, and fostering sports professionals of the 21st century who will lead the enhancement of the quality of life.
Based on the characteristics of the specialized college in urban science, the department is preparing for an aging society, efficiently managing and operating national and municipal sports infrastructure, and specializing in areas such as elderly health management, sports management and administration, and professional life sports instruction to professionally guide the sports and leisure activities of a leisure-centered society in the 21st century, thereby evolving into a world-class sports specialized department.
