Registration method
Registration according to the academic year’s curriculum
- Course registration must be conducted according to the current academic year's grade level, semester, curriculum, and class timetable.
- Registration for elective general education courses requires completion of the minimum credits for the respective department and area in the academic year of admission.
- When registering for general education courses divided into I and II, you must complete I before registering for II.
Registration for returning students
- Returning students must register for courses according to the curriculum of the academic year, grade level, and semester in which they have resumed their studies.
- Graduation credit requirements are based on the minimum graduation credit table for each department and major according to the curriculum of the year of admission.
Completion of teacher education program
- Students wishing to complete the teacher education program must submit the application for completion of the teacher education program within the designated period set by the Graduate School of Education before advancing to the first semester of their second year, and then they must register for the related courses. However, if a student is not selected for the teacher education program (second semester of the second year) and takes the education courses, or if an applicant for the teacher education program withdraws mid-course, the credits earned for the teacher education courses will be recognized as general course credits.
Registration method
Registration for transfer students and major changes
- Transfer students must register for courses according to the curriculum of the academic year, grade level, and semester in which they have transferred. They should confirm the credit recognition and designated courses for transfer students with their respective department before proceeding with course registration.
- Designated courses must be completed, and if a course has been discontinued, students must register for an alternative course. However, if students take major courses (including elective courses from other departments) that were offered in the previous academic year prior to transfer, these credits will not count towards the graduation credit requirements.
Students who transferred before the 2005 academic year must check the credit recognition and designated courses for transfer students with their respective department and should register for courses while keeping the following points in mind:
- Courses must be registered excluding recognized subjects (credits will not be recognized for courses taken redundantly).
- Designated courses must be completed, and if a course has been discontinued, students must register for an alternative course.
Students who have not passed or taken the mathematics proficiency assessment
- Students who have not passed the mathematics proficiency assessment must change their course registration from Mathematics I to Basic Mathematics.
- Students who have not taken the mathematics proficiency assessment will also be considered as fail students and will not be able to take Mathematics I, thus they must change their course registration to Basic Mathematics.
* For more details, please contact the General Mathematics department at (6490-5235) (refer to the General Mathematics website).
Course registration confirmation
Initial confirmation
- During the course registration confirmation and change period, students must personally verify their course registration using the course registration confirmation form and the university administrative system.
Final confirmation
- After the course deletion period, check the course registration confirmation by accessing the university administrative information system - University Courses - Course Registration Printout - and enter the check after confirmation.
- Students are responsible for any issues that arise from not finalizing their course registration details. If a student does not make any changes or cancellations and chooses to forgo a course, the grade for that course will be recorded as an F.
Restrictions on courses and credits
The principle is to register for 17 credits per semester; a minimum of 9 credits and a maximum of 20 credits can be registered.
- [Architecture major students can register for up to 22 credits.]
- Exceptions (also applicable to returning students)
table Honor students For students with an average GPA of 3.50 or higher in the previous semester’s grades (dispatched grades), an additional 3 credits can be registered.
* However, this applies only if the student has completed more than 17 credits.Students with academic warning Restricted to 14 credits or fewer
(However, if the required courses in the curriculum exceed 15 credits, this is an exception.)Students with permission for double major An additional 3 credits can be registered, but if a student qualifies as both an honors student and a student permitted for a double major, only one of the two will be recognized. Students registered for 8+ semesters Exempt from minimum credit restrictions (Architecture majors are exempt after 10 semesters)
- Exceptions (also applicable to returning students)
Upper limit for completing general education courses
- Among the minimum graduation credits, a maximum of 48 credits for general education courses will be recognized. (However, the College of Business and the College of Humanities can apply up to 51 credits), (General Education Courses: Required and Elective)
- Credits earned in excess for general education courses will be recognized, but they will not count towards the minimum graduation credits.
[Example]
In the case of a student whose minimum required credits for graduation is 130, they must complete at least 82 credits in courses other than general education (such as major and general courses). If the student earns 50 credits in general education, they must acquire at least 132 credits in total to graduate. - General Courses: Courses taken in the major from other departments will be recognized as general courses. However, elective courses from other departments recognized as major electives (as specified in the university catalog under the curriculum of each department) will be acknowledged as major electives.
- The curriculum for each department can be checked on the website under Academic Information → Major/Courses/Teacher Education → Curriculum menu.
Duplicate course registration
- Credits earned from registering for the same course multiple times will not be recognized, and courses with overlapping class times cannot be registered.
Prohibited courses for registration
- Among the general education courses, prohibited courses designated by the respective department cannot be registered. However, exceptions are made for courses that have already been completed or for retaken courses. For more details, please refer to the university handbook and the announcements from each department.
To check eligible departments for course registration: UOS System Portal → University Courses → Course Registration Management → (Students, Instructors) Timetable Inquiry → Select and confirm the relevant subject
Course cancellation after registration
- If you have registered for elective courses, the following cases may result in the cancellation of the respective course, so you must apply for a change during the course registration change period.
(However, this excludes teacher education courses.)
Elective general education courses: Fewer than 20 students
Major elective courses: Fewer than 10 students, or if the number of enrolled students is less than 25% of the total enrollment in the respective department for that academic year When the enrollment for Capstone Design courses is fewer than 4 studentsTo check eligible departments for course registration: UOS System Portal → University Courses → Course Registration Management → (Students, Instructors) Timetable Inquiry → Select and confirm the relevant subject
Designated enrollment capacity per course
- The enrollment capacity is determined based on the seating capacity of the lecture hall, and each department may set separate capacities.
- During the course registration period and according to the schedule for each grade, the number of students registering will be allocated in a proportionate manner. For certain required general education courses, first-year students will be prioritized for registration, after which the remaining slots will be assigned to second, third, and fourth-year students.
- If you are unable to register for courses due to enrollment capacity restrictions, you must register during the change period. (This is only applicable if there are available slots during the change period.)
For inquiries regarding enrollment capacity, please contact the department offering the course.
Retaking courses
Restrictions on retaking courses
- Retaking is allowed only for courses with a grade of C+ or lower.
Grading for retaken courses
- The previous course and grade will be deleted, and the subsequently earned course and grade (A+ to F) will be recognized.
Retaking the same course
- Courses that have the same course number, course name, and credits, or courses that have been designated as identical or discontinued, will automatically be processed as retakes, so there should be no confusion regarding credit management.
Retaking alternative courses
- Courses that have been discontinued due to curriculum restructuring can be retaken as designated alternative courses.
When retaking alternative courses, you must check the retake option during course registration. Courses taken without checking the retake option will be recognized as separate courses.
