Impyeong Lee is a professor in Dept. of Geoinformatics at the University of Seoul. Before joining UOS in 2003, Prof. Lee worked for Byrd Polar Research Center, The Ohio State University, USA in 2002-2003 and Satellite Technology Research Center, KAIST in 1992-1999. He received an BS in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from KAIST in 1991, his MSc in Spacecraft Technology & Satellite Communications from University College London in 1992 and Ph.D. in Geodetic Science & Surveying from Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science at The Ohio State University in 2002.

Professor Lee leads the Laboratory for Sensor and Modeling (LSM), studying diverse topics related to sensor integration and data fusion for automatic rapid modeling of our world. His current research interests focus on UAV based on realtime monitoring and rapid mapping, mobile mapping for street level outdoor and indoor modeling, vision oriented multi-sensor fusion for autonomous/smart vehicles, and multi-source integrated ocean surveillance systems. He also runs a spin-off venture company (InnoPAM) to provide innovative solutions for positioning and mapping.
