Chulmin Jun is a professor of the Department of Geoinformatics at the University of Seoul. Before joining UOS in 1999, he worked in the Research Triangle Institute, NC, U.S.A. as a GIS developer. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from the Seoul National University in 1988 and 1990 respectively and Ph.D. in urban and regional planning from Texas A&M University, USA in 1997. His research interests include applications and development of different types of urban analyses that require integrated knowledge from geoinformatics(i.e. GIS, spatial databases and geo-statistics) and engineering fields(i.e. transportation, environment and urban planning). He also focuses on geo-simulation and visualization areas for the analysis of pedestrian micro movements. He’s been teaching classes related with GIS development such as programming, databases, spatial databases, Web GIS and spatial analysis. He also leads the GeoDB Lab (geodb.uos.ac.kr).
