Junehwan Koh is Professor of Geoinformatics at the University of Seoul. Before joining UOS in 1996, Professor Koh served as Research Fellow at Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements(KRIHS). He received an B.E. in Civil Engineering and his MUP(Master of Urban Planning) from Seoul National University and Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Graduate School, the University of Seoul. He graduated with a Post-graduate diploma in GIS for Urban Application from ITC, The Netherlands, in 1991. He served as the dean of the College of Urban Sciences and the Graduate School of Urban Sciences at University of Seoul (2011–2013) and also president of the Korea Spatial Information Society (2010–2011). From 2004 until 2005 he was visiting professor at Rutgers University, USA.

His current research interests focus on public participatory geographic information systems, community mapping, with a particular emphasis on the citizen's participation, GIS/UIS.
