Sun-Young Rieh is a registered architect in Korea and in the United States (NCARB). Currently she is a professor in the Dept. of Architecture, University of Seoul. Her current research interests focus on sustainable architecture, educational environment and gender conscious environment.
Rieh holds undergraduate degree in architecture from Seoul National University and graduate degree in Architectural design from Univ. of California, Berkeley. She received an Arch.D degree from University of Hawaii. Before she joined as a faculty member in University of Seoul she has taught at the Dept. of Architecture, Prairie View A&M University in Texas. In 2007 she taught in the school of architecture, University of Hawaii as a Fulbright visiting scholar.
Being funded from Korean Research Foundation, she researched project on urban compact school and sustainable educational environment.
She was a coordinator of joint exhibition Seoul-Borderlines-Berlin 2005, a part of the opening celebration event of Cheonggyecheon restoration.
She has led the group research project Women-Friendly City, Seoul in 2006 which set the direction of gender conscious environment policy of metropolitan Seoul government.
